The Co-operative Funeralcare’s annual charity car wash raises £432 for Guide Dogs
A popular car wash event organised by staff at The Co-operative Funeralcare in Rugby has raised £432 for charity.
The team from the Bilton Road funeral home rolled up their sleeves and washed more than 50 cars over four hours.
The money raised will go to Guide Dogs, the nominated charity for the Heart of England Co-operative Society which operates a network of 13 funeral homes across Coventry, Warwickshire, south Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.
This was the eighth consecutive year the team at the Rugby funeral home had organised the event.
Peter Pickering, Funeral Services Manager, said: “Once again we were delighted with the success of our annual charity car wash, in which the people of Rugby turned out in force to help us raise funds for Guide Dogs.
“The event is always very well supported, so much so it has become a permanent fixture on our annual fundraising calendar. We hope to continue this event for many more years to come.”
Funds raised by employees across the Society’s Head Office, Food and Funeral Divisions during 2017 will go to Guide Dogs’ general funds.
It will be used to pay for the breeding and training of puppies and the care and wellbeing of dogs throughout their working life and into retirement.
In general the breeding and training of puppies reaches £5,000 per dog, while costs over a lifetime costs in the region of £50,000 per dog.
